Regarding participation in the Blessed Sacrament of Christ’s True Body and Blood: Because oneness at the altar presupposes oneness in faith and doctrine, we expect that all who commune at the Lord’s altar are members in good standing of an LCMS congregation. We ask that all who commune register on a communion card. All visitors should state their home LCMS congregation. First time visitors please speak to Pastor Dreyer. Individual cups for those desiring them are available as you approach the altar.

BINGEN THRIVENT MEMBERS If you are a Thrivent member and are eligible to participate in the Giving Plus program, please give your contribution as soon as possible. Thrivent cut the amount of funding for this program down to $22.3 million for 2009. As of August 31, almost $15 million has been given away in matching funds. With the current economic downturn, we need to get our forms in as soon as possible in order to improve our chances for receiving the matching funds. To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old and you can contribute $600 per person, so a husband and wife could contribute $1,200 total. Thrivent matches $1 for every $2 given, so a $600 contribution will get a $300 match. To those who have already contributed – Thank You. If you have any questions, please contact Delin Kleine or Jay Witte.
SPECIAL REQUEST If anyone has any knowledge of any tiling or underground structure in the church grove, please let someone on council know. This is part of planning for the possible future relocation of the school’s well.

1He
who dwells in the shelter of the | Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Al- | mighty.
2I
will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my | fortress,
my God, in | whom I trust.”
3For he will deliver you from the
snare of the | fowler
and from the deadly | pestilence.
4He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find | refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and | buckler.
5You will not fear the terror | of
the night,
nor the arrow that | flies by day,
6nor the pestilence that stalks in |
darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at | noonday.
7A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your | right hand,
but it will not come | near you.
8You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the | wicked.
9Because you have made the LORD your
| dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my | refuge—
10
no evil shall be allowed to be- | fall you,
no plague come | near your tent.
11For
he will command his angels con- | cerning you
to guard you in | all your ways.
12On
their hands they will | bear you up,
lest you strike your foot a- | gainst a stone.
13You
will tread on the lion and the | adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample | underfoot.
14“Because
he holds fast to me in love, I will de- | liver him;
I will protect him, because he | knows my name.
15When
he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in | trouble;
I will rescue him and | honor him.
16With
long life I will sat- | isfy him
and show him my sal- | vation.”

The Old Testament + Daniel 10:10-14
And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.”
The Epistle + Revelations 12:7-12
Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world— he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
The Holy Gospel + Matthew 18:1-11
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes! And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire. See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”
