Regarding participation in the Blessed Sacrament of Christ’s True Body and Blood: Because oneness at the altar presupposes oneness in faith and doctrine, we expect that all who commune at the Lord’s altar are members in good standing of an LCMS congregation. We ask that all who commune register on a communion card. All visitors should state their home LCMS congregation. First time visitors please speak to Pastor Brock or Pastor Dreyer. Individual cups are available as you approach the altar for those desiring them.
Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." And he said to them "When you pray, say: "Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation." And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; and he will answer from within, 'Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything'? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
In our prayers Kathy Palacios, Kathy Hormann, Ann McDougal, Connie Embler, Les Zelt, Ruth Linnemeier, Evelyn Oetting, Louise Dreyer, Jim Dreyer, Marie Bradtmueller, Carol Gresley and Betty Schroeder.
Shut-ins: Evelyn Aumann, Tom Aumann, Fred Berning, Jean Bultemeier, Geraldine Buuck, Donna Conrad, Daniel Everett, Marie Hobrock, Deanie Holle, Margaret Scherer, Velma Zelt
Our soldiers: Ethan Boyle, Deb Chappel, David German, Garry Murdock, Jr., Matthew Owen, Katie Tedeschi, Daniel Ulman
Bulletin Cover Art:
The artwork adorning your bulletin cover this morning, inspired by today's Gospel reading from Luke 11:1-13, was crafted by Eli Lind, 12 years-old, during St. John's 2010 Vacation Bible School. Throughout the rest of this church year, the creative gifts of our Lord's young Christians will bless our worship through these Scripturally-based illustrations, reminding us all of Jesus' words in Mark 10:14-15: "Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it." We give thanks and praise to God in Christ for enriching our worship life through His servant, Eli.

FAREWELL
and GODSPEED
P: Beloved in the Lord, Leanne Busick is retiring as Director of Music. At this time of farewell and Godspeed, let us hear the Word of the Lord.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:3-8
The following psalm verses are spoken by half verse.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Lord, you have been our dwelling place
in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Blessed shall you be in the city,
and blessed shall you be in the field.
Blessed shall you be when you come in,
and blessed shall you be when you go out.
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Let your work be shown to your servants,
and your glorious power to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Stand
P: Lord God, heavenly Father, we give thanks for all the blessings You have bestowed on this congregation through the faithful service our Director of Music, Leanne. Grant that her example of faithful devotion to Your Word and loving service to others may, by Your grace, be a blessing and encouragement to many. In Your mercy support and strengthen her in her retirement, and grant her Your peace and blessedness now and forever; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.
P: Go in peace and joy. The almighty and most merciful God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be with you, and bless and strengthen you both now and forevermore.
C: Amen.
