WELCOME TO WORSHIP at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church! We are glad that you have come to the Lord's house today to be fed and strengthened by God's holy Word. The Order of Service for today is found in the Lutheran Service Book located in the seatback in front of you. Pages and hymn numbers are noted on the half-sheet in this worship folder and briefly on the overhanging flap. Guests, we extend a special welcome to you this morning and pray that your hearing of God's Word may be a blessing to your life and salvation. If you are visiting with us, please include your name and address in our guest book located in the entry of the church. We are privileged to have you as our guest today and encourage you to worship with us again soon.
OUR NURSERY AND RESTROOMS are located through the south doors (on the left as you leave the sanctuary) and to your left. The service can be heard and seen in the nursery through a live, closed-circuit television broadcast.

Regarding participation in the Blessed Sacrament of Christ’s True Body and Blood: Because oneness at the altar presupposes oneness in faith and doctrine, we expect that all who commune at the Lord’s altar are members in good standing of an LCMS congregation. We ask that all who commune register on a communion card. All visitors should state their home LCMS congregation. First time visitors please speak to Pastor Brock or Pastor Dreyer. Individual cups are available as you approach the altar for those desiring them.

The Lutherans For Life chapter here in the Decatur area is sponsoring an essay contest for any student who will be enrolled in college in the fall of 2011. The award for the best essay will be $500 in scholarship money.
The parameters for this contest are:
1. An essayist must be a member of one of the LC-MS congregations in the Decatur Circuit, and may submit only one essay.
2. The essayist must be entering a full-time quarter/semester of college in fall, 2011, no matter what year of college.
3. The essay should be double spaced, not exceeding three pages.
4. This year's essay theme is: How does the life of Jesus reinforce pro-life values?
5. The essays are to be given to the essayist's pastor by January 22. 2011.
6. Submitted essays become the property of the Decatur Area Lutherans for Life chapter and may be slightly edited and published.
7. If at all possible, the essayist should remain anonymous to the judging pastors.
The Decatur area pastors will judge the essays; a pastor will be ineligible to judge if he has a relative who submits an essay. Judgment will be based upon clarity of thought and expression pertaining to the given theme. May we by this effort magnify the gift of life. Blessings to all involved.
